First Algae-Based Flexible Foams

First Algae-Based Flexible Foams
Aug-28-15
The flexible foams from Bloom eschew the traditional petrochemicals in favor of a more sustainable material—algae blooms.

The foam is made using the dried, GMO-free algae biomass from Algix, which is collected only from waste streams. After the biomass has been dried, it is combined with other compounds to create the soft foams. The foams may be made up of between 15 and 60 percent algae, and can be used in a variety of products, including yoga mats, traction on watersport equipment, and footwear.
