Inkless Paper Can Be Re-Used Many Times

Inkless Paper Can Be Re-Used Many Times
Dec-24-14
Researchers have created an innovative inkless, rewriteable paper that can be written on and erased more than 20 times.

The paper—a sheet of glass or plastic film—features an imaging layer made up of redox dyes. Exposing the paper to ultraviolet light will cause the dye to bleach out and leave behind the areas that make up the text, which will remain legible for about three days. Heating the paper will erase the text sooner.

The current version of the paper can be cycled more than 20 times, and the team is working to increase that number as well as extend the legibility of the text beyond three days.
