Microneedle Patch Could Reduce Blood Draws

Microneedle Patch Could Reduce Blood Draws
Dec-11-14
A microneedle patch able to painlessly draw a small sample of interstitial fluid could help reduce the number of blood draws required to gather patient information.

The tiny patch, developed by a team from Queens University Belfast, is equipped with an array of tiny needles that will absorb interstitial fluid, which can be used to determine much of the same information as blood samples. The patch would be particularly useful for treating and monitoring premature babies, who are subjected to up to four blood draws per day.
