A new method of regrowing teeth using lasers offers a ground-breaking treatment that could have other applications.
The technique, from a team at Harvard University, is significant in that it offers a degree of precision when manipulating stem cells—something that has escaped other researchers. Using low-powered lasers, the team was able to coax stem cells in the body to regenerate dentin, with the results in both human and animal models proving optimistic.
Hopes are that the laser method could find its way into other stem cell therapies, significantly changing the path of regenerative medicine
