SmartMat Coach-Enabled Yoga Mat

Oct-04-14 The SmartMat brings a yoga coach into the home, guiding the user through the yoga poses with its pressure sensors and smartphone app.

Before the first use, the SmartMat is calibrated by entering information such as age, weight and height, as well as by lying on the mat so it can gather measurements of the torso, arms and legs. The user is then led through some specific poses that form a baseline for a normal posture and can be updated as strength and flexibility improve.

With the baseline in place, users can download classes from the SmartMat Martketplace that will guide them through a series of poses and provide feedback on any incorrect postures. According to the designers, the SmartMat can even determine the position of the arms based upon the weight distribution of the feet.
