Method of obtaining exine shells of narurally occurring spores

A method for obtaining exine shells of naturally occurring spores directly from harvested biological material, the method comprising the steps of (a) treating the material with a mixture of an acid anhydride and an acid catalyst and (b) separating the exine shells from the mixture after treatment.
