Extendable & Retractable Wrench

An extendable and retractable handle pipe wrench is provided, particularly for drain clean-outs, where the handle sections are reinforced to increase wrench torque capacity with additional technology and where at least one of the tube sections is separable to reduce the overall handle length in tight quarters. The pipe wrench can also be useful for untying nuts and bolts. The wrench has two modes of extending and retracting, the first sliding and the second by handle-part removal. The first permits the outer section (22) to slide out on the inner section tube (20) by loosening the clamp nut (50) and pulling the outer section (22) outwardly. The second length mode works by unscrewing the nut halves (46 & 47) and removing outer section (22) completely from the assembly. Toward these ends, both the outer tube sections and the inner tub section include inter-engaging tube assemblies with the outer tube section being the distal one related to the pipe wrench jaws, and the outer section assembly including a reinforcing tube fixed in the outer tub assembly that slides within the inner tube assembly for the reinforcing affect. Also, the separation is achieved with easy or quick disconnect threaded connectors in the outer tube assembly and the inner tube assembly that the operator disconnects and reattaches by twisting portions of the outer tube assembly.

In my patent for my extendable and retractable wrench, it features an extension that can reach maximum force to unscrew a pipe or other plumbing equipment. The wrench can be extended by one inch, which is one of a kind. With the locking feature, it can be customized to the perfect length and will be secure. The main goal of the wrench is to unscrew pipes in small areas where you normally cannot fit a regular wrench because they are too big. The long length is needed in order to unscrew the pipes easier because it gains more force. When the extension arm on the wrench is too large, it has to be cut which is extra work and loss of material and time. Most times these pipes are in small cramped areas, like the boiler room or mechanical room, where you can't use the largest wrench or extension, so that's where my extendable and retractable wrench comes in handy because its customizable to fit the perfect size to reach the most force. From having 25 years of experience dealing with the issue of not being able to unscrew pipes, elbows, etc. I have tried to find the best solutions for the pipe wrench, and in with my idea, this is the fastest and easiest without having to cut the extension. Not only does my invention help with unscrewing pipes for plumbing, but also it can help mechanics unscrew tight bolts and nuts. With the locking feature and extendable characteristic, my invention can make it easier for anyone who struggles with this daily.
