Global healthcare company Novo Nordisk is on the lookout for digital solutions to help people living with diabetes.
To this effect, it recently launched a crowdsourcing contest for ideas and there is still time to submit yours.
The Novo Nordisk Innovation Challenge is offering $25,000 plus a one-year opportunity to co-develop the winning idea and the submission stage is open until October 26.
"We think it's really important to leverage expertise from different areas, different points of view, different thoughts and different capabilities because we don’t all do everything well," said Amy West, the senior director overseeing patient marketing and digital health at Novo Nordisk.
Broad Contest Theme
The contest theme is deliberately a broad one, inviting anybody with a great technological idea or hypothesis in diabetes.
Five semi-finalists will present their concepts to a panel of judges on Demo Day on December 5. The winners will then enter a 12-week accelerator program to further develop their innovations.
This is the first time Novo Nordisk has reached out to third-party expertise in this way. It has said that it plans to make the diabetes challenge an ongoing one and may even expand to other chronic diseases.
