A new crowdsourcing initiative has been launched that aims to boost job creation in Ireland in the wake of the financial crisis. ConnectIreland wants people to look at their network of contacts (business, friends, extended family around the world) to identify companies wanting to expand into Europe.
For every new job created the person who passed on the lead will receive €1,500 (Approx. $USD 2,000).
ConnectIreland is backed by the Irish government and industrial development agency IDA Ireland.
A video starring Martin Sheen, Michael Flatley and Saoirse Ronan explains how the concept works and the benefits it can bring to Ireland.
How it Works
Step 1: Register on the site
Step 2: Speak to your contacts to find a suitable company that you have some connection with. Ideally the company should be looking to expand, be export focused and not already in discussion with the Irish government.
Step 3: Enter the company details into your online account. If it is what ConnectIreland is looking for a representative will ask you to set up a call with a key decision maker in the company.
Step 4: If the phone appointment takes place you are known as the official ‘introducer’.
Step 5: The ConnectIreland team will encourage the company to locate in Ireland.
Step 6: If the company establishes in Ireland you will receive €1,500 for every job created over a three-year period – subject to a maximum of €150,000 if more than 100 jobs are created.
