Interviews with Open Innovation Problem Solvers

problem-solvers-160So what is it like to be an open innovation problem solver? At IdeaConnection brilliant minds get to earn money, forge new connections, and create novel world-class solutions.

Periodically we conduct interviews with our successful solvers and facilitators. We ask for their thoughts on working with IdeaConnection as part of a problem solving team, or on their own on some of our other challenges.

Here’s a short collection of insights into some of the experiences:

“Bringing together people of different cultures and different backgrounds really optimizes a broad and vigorous dialogue where people stir each other out of their own comfort zones. It really keeps things shaken up so that we can have some really chaotic thinking. And that’s the key to creativity.” Peter McCoppin

“It’s good for everyone to know how to work with teams and how to lead those teams towards a goal. I’m using the challenges I participate in not only for IdeaConnection, but also to grow as a professional scientist.” Helena Soares

“I wanted to try something new and force myself to get out of my comfort zone and interact with a group of people that I didn’t know previously on something that I was a stretch for my field of expertise. I guess all around I was just looking for the challenge.” Angela Hartsock

“One of the real attractions to me as a problem solver is that I can sit here in my little place in New Mexico and enjoy my quiet lifestyle and yet through IdeaConnection I am working with some of the best brains in the world to solve these problems.” Doug Kenfield

“It’s actually a privilege to work as a Facilitator and to work with such intelligent people that want to think outside the box, that see innovation as a means to solving challenges of our future world.” Sue Adams

“I’m always driven to the next difficult problem and I like difficult problems. I like the worst kinds of problems. I want the worst problems in the world in front of me. That’s what I want to work on every time.” Kurt Garrett
