Syngenta Crop Challenge in AnalyticsEnter the 2020 Syngenta Crop Challenge and put your analytical skills to the test to help address the growing global food demand.

You'll receive real-world data to help you develop your models, and cash prizes totalling $8,500 will be awarded.

Can We Meet the Growing Demand for Food?

The demand for food is expected to grow exponentially by 2050, yet the planet is running out of land needed to produce enough food for the Earth's rising population. The problem is exacerbated by the challenges faced by crops such as increasingly variable growing conditions and climate change.

Data-Driven Strategies

To better feed the planet, the agriculture industry strives to maximize the amount of food we gain from crops by breeding plants with the strongest, highest-yielding genetics. Leading agriculture company Syngenta has proven that data-driven strategies can help the industry produce better seeds that require fewer resources and are adaptable to more diverse and variable environments.

In this open innovation challenge, Syngenta wants participants to focus their attention on commercial corn, one of the world's most important crops.

You will need to develop models capable of predicting the performance of potential corn products. This will help scientists more accurately select seeds that increase the productivity of the crops farmers plant.

A team of expert judges will evaluate entries, and the deadline for entries is January 21, 2020. The winner will be awarded $5,000; the runner up will receive $2,500, and the third-place entry will receive $1,000.
