Areas Gaurav Singh is Knowledgeable in:

I have studied cutting-edge technology domains like Blockchain, IoT, AI, Cloud Computing, Additive Manufacturing (AM), Geofencing, Robotic process Automarion Quantum Computing and several others.
During my tenure as a Research Analyst, I have also explored a vast number of companies, organizations and startups accross various Industries such as Food & Beverages, Oil & Gas, Gig Economy, Logistics and Transportation, Construction, Automotive and Packaging among others.

I am proficient in preparing reports and deliverables in excel and powerpoint.

Techniques Gaurav Singh Uses:

I use various quantitative and qualitative data analysis methodologies to derive insights from data. Some of the analysis that I frequently use are Porters 5 Forces, BCG Growth Matrix,  SWOT Analysis, PESTEL Analysis, Ansoff Matrix etc. And the tools that I employ for research, Analytics and Visulalization are MS Excel, Tableau, Google Patents, Espacenet, Google Scholars etc.

Also, I am aware of various online sites where I can look for a specific type of information. For instance, we can find specifications and properties of various polymers and chemicals from websites such as Matweb.com, Onmexus, Polymersdatabase etc.

Gaurav Singh's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. AB Inbev- Multinational drink and brewing company:  Here, our aim was to provide the company with such a solution that would ensure proof of purchase of their beer bottles. One such solutions was under the cap printing of QR code as it will ensure scanning of QR code only after the bottle is opened. But there were also several constraints, like the cost of printing should be less that $0.1 per unit and the print quality should be high. Keeping all these factors in mind, we devised a solution specially tailored to the needs of the client.
  2. LafargeHolcim- After getting positive feedback in its first project, we were assigned another project by the client. This time the comapny wanted us to explore the possibility of a polymer based core that can be used in grinding wheels instead of metallic cores. As this is not the most popular type of grinding wheel and data was not readily available, we had to dig deep into market data, research papers and patents to figure out the potential of the solution. This was important as grinding wheels where the core is made of polymer is lightweight has better mechanical properties, efficiency and could thus help the client reduce the operation cost drastically. Based on our observations, clear picture of the market was potrayed to the client and key insights, recommendations were provided.
  3. Kids2- Kids toys and modular furniture manufacturing company: This was one of the most interesting projects. Exploring kids toys and modular funiture was fun and also a bit nostalgic. We did whitespace analysis in thier modular furniture space. We studied the domain and extracted the patent set via key strings and futher moved on to relevancy check and bucketing of the obtained set.
Eventually, whitespace analysis in the modular furniture space both from patents and market perspective was done. Alongside, we also kept track of developments in the latest technologies to not miss out on any recent innovations.
  4. Lafargeholcim- Building Material Manufacturing Company:
We did two different projects for LafargeHolcim.

-In the first project, we explored the products, application area and market where the company can foray by leveraging its raw material -GCC(ground calcium Carbonate). Several factors such as specifications, properties and characteristics of the material was taken into account while shortlisting the products. Also, top suppliers of GCC, suppliers details market share and demand was evaluated to make sure the company gets a fair idea of the market potential for its raw material.

  5. Some of the projects I was involved in during my tenure as a Research Analyst are:

Natura- Global Personal Care and Cosmetics Company: Here, the company was looking for various sustainable packaging options. We found numerous biodegradable alternatives for packaging of cosmetic products while also taking care of aspects such as moisture resistance, reactivity, heat resistance etc. For instance, PVAc could be one of the alternatives, we also found startups that have developed unique algae based materials, bamboo based packaging etc. After exploring all the alternatives, we prepared SWOT analysis to make it easier for the companies to filter out the best solution as per their needs. We also provided our recommendations based on our research and insights.
  6. Lindt-Chocolate and confectionary company: We prepared a sample study to make the client aware of the changing landscapes and emerging trends in the industry. We showcased the need to shift towards sustainable packaging and proposed solutions for the same. We analyzed the strategies adopted by its competitors in this domain to attain the sustainability target.
To find something really intriguing for the client, we went a step ahead and explored the cross-domain companies that have unique solution in these area. For instance, a beverage packaging company can have a solution worth noting and exploring. Also, we explored patents to find the assigness, universities and inventors. This data helped us find companies with most valuable patents which we further used in our analysis. List of universities and inventors with good IP portfolio in this domain can be a potential target for collaboration.
  7. UPS- Package delivery and supply chain management company:  we explored the mega trends prevailing in the industrial ecosystem such as urbanization, gig economy, ecommerce etc that can impact the business of UPS. For instance, In case of Gig Economy, we prepared the taxonomy and then examined how each node can impact the client's business financially. Based on certain criterions we estimated the impact of every node and eventually narrowed down the key trends that could be most impactful in monetary terms.
