Awards & Recognition

Michael Ricciardi

Michael Ricciardi
I have been actively engaged in the open innovation field since 2008. To date, I have won (either sole or shared winner) four monetary awards (four separate challenges) and received an H.M. award/recognition for a fifth, all through InnoCentive.com. See my profile for details on these awards.

These aforementioned challenges ranged in subject matter from audio-visual augmentation and 'Big Data' assimilation to new drug discovery (platform technology) and new information technology.

The most recent open innovation award was for the '2013 Innovations in Arms Control Challenge' -- sponsored by the US State Dept. Bureau of Arms Control -- seeking new IT to improve the arms inspections process, for which I was the sole winner of that challenge (awarded May, 2014).

Also, in 2013, I had an additional solution concept 'short-listed' (final round of site members' voting) on the OpenIDEO.com website (solution title: 'knowing by Numbers'). Both the latter and H.M. challenges (mentioned above) would part of the USAID/Humanity United 'Tech Challenge' suite of challenges offered to the public in 2012.

In addition to these innovation awards, I bring to the table skill as a media artist and designer. This background includes several Arts grants (including two major foundation grants) and awards (most involving photo-art/video/new media and related educational projects). A fully detailed resume can be supplied if requested.

I won my first art-related award at the age of eight (3rd grade; poster competition, local 'Rotary Club' contest).
