Innovative People

"The value of an idea lies in the using of it"

I thrive to solve problems. As a young boy, I wanted to be an inventor and I hope I've reached it. I spend my free time (when I am not walking my dog in the countryside with my wife), coding and prototyping new concepts, automatons, or models to be applied for growing and studying plants.

I value knowledge, rational thought, and insight.

I am specialized in plant production modeling, an expert in both typical crop modeling and state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. Most generally, I excel at mining the correlations and causality in a dataset to answer a scientific or a business question, producing a PoC and proper visualizations for decision making.

I founded my company, Phymea Systems (*) which works with researchers to develop adaptable hardware & software for the hundreds of problematics in plant research. From image analysis & Deep Learning techniques applied to estimate maize plant production to prediction models for sorghum irrigation, our expertise at Phymea allows us to propose innovative tools for producers & researchers to measure, optimize and predict their production.

During my Ph.D. in Montpellier (France), I adapted a crop model to integrate more genotypic variability in its parameters to assess the suitability of cultivars to environmental conditions in Europe under current and future conditions. I analyzed the sensitivity of given phenotypic traits to environmental conditions between cultivars. Those observable/measurable traits are the result of the interaction between the genotype of the plant and its environment. This work helped to analyze the interaction between a given genotype and its environment to guide breeders to investigate specific processes of plant growth, for crop adaptation to future challenges.
