To grow freshwater plants / crops in ocean water not soil.

Roots protected by ocean ions by covering: Use N95 mask or more advanced mesh to cover roots. A cloth can also be used. Water can be readily exchanged between ocean and roots, but ions or salts of ocean will not enter the roots mesh area.

Required ions by plants at roots area: Plants will all be connected using small linking pipes. Potassium ions will be injected inside mesh. Or Sustained-release medicines which enables gradual release of ions that plant requires. Or implants as in pharmaceuticals can be used for slow release of ions say for next 6 months.

Floating: Density of thermocol is less than water, so it floats. Thermocol will be used to grow and hold plants on surface of oceans. Or use stones with lot of holes that float on water.
