Amphibious Joint Lifeguard UAV

Amphibious Joint Lifeguard UAV
Oct-30-16
The Amphibious Joint Lifeguard UAV drone assists lifeguards by functioning as a surveillance and floatation device.

Winner of a Red Dot design concept award, the Amphibious Joint Lifeguard UAV is designed to be positioned on top of a charging patrol tower, where it has a clear view of the beach area. If a swimmer is in trouble, the drone can be deployed via remote control and sent the victim, whereupon it will lower itself into the water to function as a floatation device and bring the swimmer back to shore.

Very interesting concept! Question-is the device supposed to identify someone in trouble, or does a life guard initiate the response? Note that there are two primary types of folks in trouble in the water. A distressed swimmer has swimming skills, but can make no progress (rip current, tiring, etc.) Conversely, an active drowning person, who has either lost (injured, drug/alcohol affected) or never had swimming skills has only about a minute on the surface after the drowning progression begins. This victim usually can't see or hear being intent only on keeping their head above the surface to breathe. A rescuer or rescue device must directly interact with/touch the victim to get their attention. I'd be glad to share more info about drowning. My Book Water Rescue is now out of print, but copies are available through Amazon. There are detailed descriptions of drowning progressions in the text. Thx-

First class idea,. My suggestion not taken up to date was for beach located stationary cameras that tracked all persons in and out of the water (extention of 1st movement change program accredited to MrBURFORD CEO,Motorola 1980s.)
Two camera positions give co- ordenances .Program lights up swimmer,Stagnant, (GONE)!Swimmer on screen, not in radious of last known position , cross referenced to tidal flows and rips a limited radius can be projected on screen and relayed to surf lifesavers.

Could children, seniors and hesitant swimmers use personal alarms? Either automatic or button based, with two levels. Orange brings the drone near and red into the water.
A personal swimming aide could be a floating device that follows the swimmer and carries accessories. Even precedes and guides towards home or other wanted destination.
