Biological Supercapacitor Could Power Implants Indefinitely

May-12-17 Medical implants of the future may be powered by biological supercapacitors that are fueled by bodily fluids and never need replacing.

Developed by a team from several US universities, the biofriendly device powers itself using the ions found in the fluids in the human body. Working in tandem with another device that converts heat and motion from the body into electricity, the team believes the supercapacitor could offer a source of endless power for implantable devices.
