Cartiva Synthetic Cartilage Implant Approved for US Use

Cartiva Synthetic Cartilage Implant Approved for US Use
Aug-01-16
Developed to help treat arthritis, the Cartiva Synthetic Cartilage Implant (SCI) is the first synthetic cartilage to be approved for use in the U.S.

The SCI was created by Cartiva to treat the pain of arthritis at the base of the big toe, the most common arthritis condition in the foot. Whereas current procedures require fusing the bones with plates and screws, the SCI device was designed to have properties similar to natural cartilage, and offers relief from the joint pain while also improving function.
