Solar Steam System Produces Power and Clean Water

Aug-01-16 A new solar thermal system from Lark Energy could have applications ranging from power generation to desalination.

The system, called solar steam, is an evolution of previous technologies, and uses a Fresnel lens array to focus the sun's rays onto a water-filled tube. The heated water then produces steam that can be used in different applications, and the angle of the array can be adjusted to follow the sun across the sky and optimize the energy capture. The solar steam system could also be used to desalinate water to create drinking water.
