Cyborg Heart Patch could Replace Transplants

Cyborg Heart Patch could Replace Transplants
Mar-17-16
Researchers have created a “cyborg” heart patch that could reduce the need for transplants.

Developed by a team from Tel Aviv University, the patch is made up of thick, bio-engineered tissue that could withstand being embedded with electronics. The patch will flex in the same way as normal heart tissue, and is meant to be used on hearts that have been damaged by trauma, where it will help regulate the heart’s functions via electrical stimulation.
