The DropTag Drive could help simplify the car rental experience by monitoring vibrations that signal possible impacts.The tag, which attaches to the windshield of the car, picks up the car’s vibrations as they are amplified by the glass. The vibrations are analyzed by an algorithm that filters out the standard operation vibrations to detect any unusual events, including a collision at speeds as slow as two miles per hour. The information is displayed to both the driver and the car rental company via a smartphone app.
