Drug-Filled Patch Helps Fight Pancreatic Cancer

Drug-Filled Patch Helps Fight Pancreatic Cancer
Apr-21-16
An implantable patch able to deliver medication directly where it is needed most could offer new hope—and less side-effects—for patients suffering from pancreatic cancer.

In development by teams from MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital, the patch is made up of a common polymer that has been impregnated on one side with chemotherapy medications. For delivery, the patch can be rolled up like a tube and delivered to the site with a catheter, in a location where its payload of drugs will do the most good.
