FlexR Puts More Muscle in Smartphone Controls

FlexR Puts More Muscle in Smartphone Controls
Dec-19-16
Control your smartphone with a flex of a muscle with the FlexR, a new invention that translates muscle flexions into control signals to a paired device.

Made by the same team that created RehabFit, the FlexR aims to replace keyboards and controllers with EMG technology, in the form of an array of small sensors that attach to the skin to detect “even the slightest muscle activity.” The FlexR can detect both muscle contraction and release, as well as the strength of the flex, and does not require large muscle movements to operate. The flexion information is sent a paired device via Bluetooth, and offers a new way to gamify fitness and exercise.
