The novel Giacometti robotic arm from the Tokyo Institute of Technology can extend its reach up to 65 feet, and then pack down to fit into the trunk of a car.
The Giacometti Arm is made up of a structure of helium-filled balloons and lightweight artificial muscles that control the different segments. The entire system weighs only 2.5 pounds, which makes it attractive for use in areas where humans are also working. Other applications include search and rescue missions and inspections.
Perhaps Giacometti Robotic Arm (Dec-24-16) and TrailNest Cartop Hammock (Jun-02-17) could be put together? Many service works would be done with small cars. Posted by Uolevi Kattun on June 5, 2017
