The GrainSense handheld scanner lets farmers scan and analyze their crops at home, saving time and money.
Typically, farmers must send a sample of their crop plant to a lab to receive information on nutritional content. To help ease this process, the GrainSense scanner can be used in the fields, scanning crops such as wheat and barley with near-infrared light. The scanner can work with just a small sample of kernels to determine the level of carbohydrate, oil, protein and moisture in the grain, then cross-reference the information with GPS and send it to a paired companion app.
