Hand-Held Flu Breathalyzer

Hand-Held Flu Breathalyzer
Feb-02-17
A hand-held breath monitor able to detect the flu virus could help prevent flu epidemics.

The device, which is similar to a breathalyzer for alcohol, was created by a team from the University of Texas, Arlington using three affordable semiconductor sensors. The sensors can detect the biomarkers for the flu from a single breath, offering a rapid and non-invasive way to test for the virus.
