IDAct System Monitors Activity Non-Invasively
Apr-10-19
The IDAct system offers an affordable way to expand the IoT, and could have particular applications in elder care.

The IDAct technology was developed by a team from the University of Michigan, and replaces the typical handheld reader. Rather, the system can detect the minute fluctuations in the signal being sent by the RFID tags and detect whether the object is being moved and if a person is touching it. According to the team, a machine learning algorithm can analyze the more sensitive signals to determine the activity in a given space—including drinking water, taking medication or preparing a meal.
