Infinitely Recyclable Polymer

Infinitely Recyclable Polymer
Apr-28-18
An innovative new polymer could open the door to plastics that can be indefinitely recycled.

Developed by a team from Colorado State University, the polymer is an evolution of a previous chemically recyclable—but limited—polymer created by the team. Where the original polymer was soft and had low heat tolerance, the newer version is lightweight, durable and heat-resistant. The monomers that make up the material can be polymerized at room temperature in just minutes, and it can be broken back down to its original monomeric state via a catalyst, and then re-polymerized without requiring further purification.
