The Matrix PowerWatch eschews batteries in place of thermoelectric charging using the body’s own heat.Hailed as the first smartwatch that never needs charging, the Matrix PowerWatch is powered by body heat, and even features a power meter that allows the wearer to see how much electricity they’ve generated. The watch can also measure the amount of calories burned (since consumed calories are transformed into heat), as well as steps taken and sleep quality. The PowerWatch’s faces can be changed to suit the user’s mood, and it syncs to a smartphone to automatically adjust to different time zones.

Ultimately I hope to see this applied to other devices. The clearest possibility are devices like fitbit and wrist phones. As long as no noticeable drain upon the individuals energy occurs the sky would seem to be the limit.
