Meteodrone Concept Would Reduce Drone-Based Injuries

Meteodrone Concept Would Reduce Drone-Based Injuries
Mar-01-17
A new, safer drone design would slow the drone’s fall in the event of a mechanical failure, helping prevent injuries below.

Developed by the Swiss company Meteomatics, the quadcopter drone concept, dubbed Meteodrone, would include a pair of rotors that are flat and twisted, similar to propeller blades. If the drone’s motor were to fail, the rotors would create passive lift, causing the drone’s body to spin around its axis and drop straight down in a predictable path, while also slowing its descent.
