Orteck ECD Detects Early Cavities with Electricity

Orteck ECD Detects Early Cavities with Electricity
Mar-21-16
The handheld Orteck EDC uses electricity to locate cavities earlier than conventional options, reducing potential damage to the tooth.

The Orteck ECD (Early Cavity Detection) features an electrified tip able to detect the dentinal fluid that is released from breaches in the tooth enamel caused by pre-cavity lesions. Since healthy molars remain dry, the presence of the dentinal fluid would indicate a cavity on the tooth. The Orteck ECD can also measure the amount of fluid, indicating how far-along the cavity is, and have been proven 100 percent accurate at locating cavities in both human and lab tests.
