PIVO Collects Blood Samples from the IV

PIVO Collects Blood Samples from the IV
Mar-07-17
The second-generation PIVO device gathers blood samples from the patient’s IV, reducing needle sticks.

Created by VelanoVascular as a way to increase patient comfort, the PIVO’s catheter is designed to be inserted in the peripheral IV, where it is then inserted into the blood vessel. Once the device is in place, the patient’s blood sample can be drawn up into the reservoir, with no need for additional needle pricks—and the risks they bring.

According to the team, the improved PIVO design is gentler to the patient and more affordable to manufacture.
