With the PrintScreen process, individual users can create their own custom designed displays and touchscreens.
Developed by a team from Saarland University, the PrintScreen technology makes use of either a standard inkjet printer or a screen printer filled with a special ink. The displays can be printed on a range of materials, including plastic and stone, which could allow them to be integrated into almost any kind of object, including household furniture and personal devices.
According to lead researcher Jürgen Steiml: "And if we now combine our approach with 3D printing, we can print three-dimensional objects, which are able to display information and respond to touch as well."
