Racing Car Design Improves Supermarket Cooling

Racing Car Design Improves Supermarket Cooling
Apr-29-15
A new device inspired by aerodynamic designs for Formula One cars could be installed on existing supermarket refrigeration units to help increase efficiency.

Currently in development by Williams Advanced Engineering in partnership with Aerofoil Energy, the device is designed to attach to the shelves or cabinets in order to direct the air flow back inside and onto the products. In addition to improving cooling and providing energy savings up to 41.5 percent, the new system also helps keep the cool air out of the aisles, making the stores a bit more comfortable for shoppers.
