Remedē System Implant Treats Severe Sleep Apnea

Remedē System Implant Treats Severe Sleep Apnea
Feb-07-18
Described as a pacemaker for the lungs, the remedē System from Respircardia helps treat severe central sleep apnea.

The remedē implant is placed just beneath the skin, where an electronic lead stimulates the phrenic nerve, which in turn stimulates the diaphragm to ensure the patient continues breathing as they sleep. The system will also monitor the phrenic nerves’ electrical activity, ensuring the delivered signal is optimized for each breath.

The remedē System has been successfully implanted in a patient at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center.
