Robots Drawing Blood

Feb-10-20 The first human clinical trial showed that blood-drawing robots could do the job as well as or better than doctors or nurses.

The hope is to cause less discomfort to patients while freeing medical staff to attend to other patient treatments.

Guided by ultrasound, the robot finds a vein, punctures it and draws blood, as well as analyzing the blood using a centrifuge.

Studies have shown that the robot has an overall success rate of 87 percent, and a 97 percent success rate for people with easy-access veins.
