Samsung Simband Helps Developers Create Better Wearables
Jan-16-15
Created for developers, the Samsung Simband lets wearable companies build accurate trackers by ensuring their data is up to standards.

The Simband was created for the medical industry to allow startups and researchers to develop new sensor technology applications. Described by Samsung's Vice President of Health Ram Fish as "a modular reference platform for wearable sensors," the Simband platform allows wearable developers to check their data and algorithms against Samsung's trusted and universal platform. The device is equipped with an array of sensors, including ECG, galvanic skin response, heart rate and skin surface thermometer. Data is transmitted via Bluetooth 4.0 to SAMI, Samsung's cloud-based system for collecting and analyzing health data.
