Self-Driving Scooter Increases Independent Mobility

Self-Driving Scooter Increases Independent Mobility
Nov-10-16
Researchers from MIT have created a self-driving scooter that will offer the elderly and disabled more independence.

The scooter was made using the same technology found in self-driving cars or golf carts, and is able to handle tasks like avoiding pedestrians, planning routes, and determining its current location. According to the team, using the same control algorithms in different types of vehicles makes it much easier to test and refine the system. The development team believes the self-driving scooter could be used in large spaces such as shopping malls or amusement parks.
