Sense4Baby Takes Some of the Stress of out Nonstress Tests

Sense4Baby Takes Some of the Stress of out Nonstress Tests
Apr-05-15
The Sense4Baby device from AirStrip will let expectant mothers perform fetal nonstress tests at home, saving time, money and a trip to the clinic.

Typically recommended for expectant mothers with a high risk of fetal death, a nonstress test measures how the baby's heart rate responds to its movements. The test is carried out using a pair of "belts" worn by the mother and is usually performed at a clinic.

In contrast, the Sense4Baby kit is designed to be used at home. The kit includes the monitoring device and a dedicated smartphone or tablet loaded with the Sense4Baby software, which allows the mother to perform the test at home and upload the results for remote viewing by physicians. The Sense4Baby device has been approved for use in Europe since 2013, but has just recently received FDA approval for the U.S.
