Shelf of Tables is a Desk for Every Need

Jun-24-14 The Shelf of Tables desk is designed for flexibility, functioning as both a sitting and a standing desk and able to accommodate a range of working styles.

The desk is made of solid ash and is equipped with ball-bearing runners that allow the working surfaces to be pulled out for use. A counter-weight ensures the structure stays stable, and the different levels allows users to leave projects out instead of needing to clear each surface for use—increasing productivity.

Designer Matej Chabera also commented that the desk is suited for wheelchair-users, which he discovered while working with an actual-sized prototype. According to Chabera: “This is the benefit of working 1:1 and testing in real materials, you discover things and the objects talk back much more than a render or a scale model does.”
