Smart Scar-Care Pad Reduces Scarring Two Ways

Typically, protruding scars such as keloids are treated by the application of pressure, but adding moisture to wounds can also help healing. To take advantage of both therapies, a team from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University developed the Smart Scar-Care Pad. The pad is made up of an arrangement of 3D-printed studs custom-shaped to deliver even pressure to the wound. The studs are enclosed in a silicon gel sheet, which also delivers continual moisture to the wound and can be cut to fit, increasing customization options.
