SNAPPs Polymer Fight Bacteria without Drugs

SNAPPs Polymer Fight Bacteria without Drugs
Sep-29-16
The innovative new SNAPPs polymers fight bacteria superbugs without antibiotics.

The SNAPPs (structurally nanoengineered antimicrobial peptide polymer) were created by a team at Melbourne University. The star-shaped polymers destroy bacteria by damaging their cell walls, with will eventually kill the bacteria without the need for antibiotics. The SNAPPs have proven effective in killing the antibiotic- resistant Gram-negative bacteria, without damaging the body’s own cells.
