Solar Shirt Charges Devices and Looks Good Doing It

Solar Shirt Charges Devices and Looks Good Doing It
Mar-18-15
Recently debuting at SXSW, the Solar Shirt can keep your devices charged while still blending (somewhat) with today's fashion.

Designed by Pauline van Dongen, the shirt features solar cells integrated into the fabric along with a small USB charger module at the front of the shirt. The solar cells were created in collaboration with Holst Centre, whose advances in stretchable electronics aided in the development of standardized solar modules that can be arranged in different ways by individual designers. The Solar Shirt as demonstrated (with 120 thin-film solar cells) was able to generate 1 W of electricity in bright sunlight. The shirt is also "ready-to-wear," since it was designed to be fashionable, comfortable and washable.
