The eCall System Gets Help, Faster

The eCall System Gets Help, Faster
May-08-16
Developed for motorcycles, the Intelligent Emergency Call system from BMW could reduce emergency response times by up to 50 percent.

The eCall system includes two sensors able to monitor acceleration and lean angle to determine whether an accident has occurred, as well as its level of seriousness. If the system detects a serious accident, it will trigger the eCall to send a message to a central BMW call center. An operator at the center will communicate with the rider via audio (in their preferred language), keeping them calm until help arrives, and emergency crews will be sent out even if the rider does not respond.
