TimberIN App-Controlled, Pellet-Burning Hot Tub

TimberIN App-Controlled, Pellet-Burning Hot Tub
Dec-17-19
The app-controlled, pellet-burning hot tub from TimberIN offers convenient heat control and less environmental impact.

In many countries, wood-fired hot tubs are a common way to ease the long winters, but they do take their toll on the environment. As an alternative, the team from Kaunas University of Technology created a hot tub heated by wood pellets rather than logs. The pellets are not only more efficient, they can also be kept inside a storage compartment within the hot tub and triggered for automatic release by a companion app. Sensors in the tub will measure the water temperature at both the top and bottom, allowing the user to set and maintain their desired heat without ever needing to touch the burning material.

The technology has been commercialized by the spinoff TimberIN, and is being modified for use in outdoor saunas.
