Trimbot Robot Prunes Rose Bushes

Trimbot Robot Prunes Rose Bushes
Oct-27-19
The Trimbot robot can navigate through the garden to prune roses and keep bushes trimmed.

Developed by a team at the University of Edinburgh, the Trimbot is based on a Bosch robotic lawnmower design and was specifically created to navigate the unique environment of a garden. To that end, the bot is equipped with five pairs of cameras and 3D computer vision techniques, as well as a rough map of the garden itself. The Trimbot can then be set loose amongst the plants, where its onboard algorithms will compare images to prune overgrown bushes or choose precisely where to cut each rose stem.
