Hailed as the world’s lightest bicycle e-drive, the Velospeeder from Velogical also allows the rider to switch easily between powered and manual modes.
Still in the prototype phase, the Velospeeder system weighs only 3.5 pounds, with a 92-Wh battery able to provide about 12 miles of power assist. The dual motors mount to the bike frame, where the swing-axle design allows the motors to remain in consistent, optimal contact with the rim. The Velospeeder also enables the rider to switch between powered and manual modes, automatically adjusting the motors to contact the rim, or release, on command.
