Veta EpiPen Smart Case Sounds an Alert if Opened

Veta EpiPen Smart Case Sounds an Alert if Opened
Jan-09-15
The Veta smartcase brings some peace of mind to parents of children with life-threatening allergies by alerting family members when the user's EpiPen has been accessed.

The Veta system includes the smart case for the EpiPen and a companion smartphone app. Proximity sensors inside the case communicate with a paired smartphone to ensure the EpiPen is not forgotten, and a misplaced case can be located using the device's find-me feature. Perhaps most valuable to parents, however, is the Veta's ability to detect when it has been opened and immediately send alerts and location info to specified individuals.

As an added precaution, the Veta will also begin a countdown once opened. If the user does not respond to prompts from the app within a certain time, the Veta will issue a loud, verbal warning to alert bystanders to the medical emergency.
