Virtual Incision Robot Works Inside the Body

Virtual Incision Robot Works Inside the Body
Mar-08-16
The Virtual Incision robot has successfully performed its first human patient surgery, paving the way for more robot-assisted procedures in the future.

The Virtual Incision robot was developed to perform abdominal surgeries, and right now is focusing on colon resection. The platform differs from other robotic systems in that it features a small, self-contained robotic device that is meant to be positioned inside the abdomen via an incision. This enables the robot to be smaller than its counterparts, and also eliminates the need for a specialized operating room.
