Washable Coating Makes Any Fabric Conductive

Jun-04-17 Researchers at MIT have created a washable conductive coating that can be applied to any textile without altering its look or feel.

In order to fully bring smart clothing to the market, the garments need to comfortable to wear and easy to care for. To that end, the team from MIT developed a conductive coating that can be applied to a textile at room temperature—maintaining the fabric’s integrity. The coating was applied using a vacuum pump and eco-friendly ingredients, which the team claims can be used on any textile material to create a conductive surface.
